Kirsty Hay Art
Stuck in the middle of being a left-brain thinker and a right-brain creative, I am a balanced artist who is a dreamer but also a realist. I work in Marketing by day creating things for other people and in the afternoons and weekends I create beautiful things for you.
I am inspired by nature; landscapes, oceans, the sky and the stars. I could spend hours in silence with nature, feeling her beauty and uniqueness. I paint abstract because I like the viewer to see what they want to see and feel what they want to feel. There are so many rules in life; why tell people what they should see in my work?
I have been painting and drawing since I could pick up a pencil. As a child I used to take the weekend paper and pull out the new homes section; I’d draw my own versions of houses and rearrange the layout. As a teenager my paintings took on a moody feel, typical of a teenager in the grungy 90s! And now as an adult I paint my surroundings and my dreams.
My formal qualifications are in Commerce and my informal qualifications are countless hours studying in various art classes and learning from life itself.
I paint for you, the viewer but most of all I paint for myself because if I didn’t, I would never find peace.
