Late in life, Helly was subjected to shocking, protracted, emotional and physical abuse - by an institution which is paid to care for citizens.
The brain damage caused by this abuse, then resulted in a sudden desire and ability to draw. Prior to the brain damage, there was zero art ability, nor interest, nor any contact with the ‘art’ world. With zero lessons, these drawings emerged.
All profits are donated to those who also suffer abuse, as is Helly’s entire estate.
