Stacey Keogh is an acrylic artist raised in rural Esperance and the goldfields of Western Australia then settling in Perth after attending boarding school at St Hilda’s Anglican Girls School in Mosman Park, Perth,
Growing up drawing, painting at the kitchen table, and having access to an incredible art education throughout her high school years being encouraged to pursue a career in visual arts, it was not until the pandemic that Stacey took the plunge and changed career direction from a chef to become a full-time artist.
Working exclusively with acrylic paint on canvas, Stacey takes advantage of the versatility of the medium's quick drying properties and ability to create both bold, thick opaque layers and subtle watercolour thin aesthetics in her works.
Focusing on her love for uniquely Western Australian flora, fauna and abstract landscapes, Stacey strives to highlight the diversity, often overlooked whimsy and personality of local birdlife including cheeky seagulls, magpies, cockatoos, and kookaburras that can be heard in every suburb in Perth.
Her love of WA native plants came through her hands-on experience and training in the floral industry in 2018.
Having commenced a double degree in Fine Art and education, Stacey put it on hold to raise her daughter and subsequently taught art workshops and tutored high school students part time within the homeschool community, her love of sharing the ability for all to express their view of the natural world through visual art is something Stacey will be pursuing to offer adults of all experience levels in the coming years of her art career.
