Hi! My name is John, and I am a photographer from Perth. I love photographing amazing locations around the world, capturing the beauty of places in a way that hasn’t been done before.

But getting to this point wasn’t easy. I had big dreams, wanting to travel the world and photograph incredible landscapes. But I had a demanding full-time job and family commitments that took up most of my time. I didn’t have spare time or means to travel to the places I dreamed of photographing.

Still, I was determined. I knew if I kept pushing, I could make it work. I stayed focused, worked hard, finding small windows of time to improve my photography skills. There were moments when I thought my dream might slip away, but my passion kept me going.

My big break came when I finally made it to the Great Ocean Road in Victoria. I had spent years dreaming about photographing the massive sea stacks rising out of the water. The chance to see the 12 Apostles in person was a lifelong goal. But when I arrived, the weather was terrible and it rained almost non-stop. I was crushed. This was the trip I had spent years planning, and it looked like it would be all washed out. I knew I wouldn’t get a chance like this again for years —if ever.

But then, in the final 36 hours, the sun broke through. It was a miracle. I wasted no time and went straight to the beach. As I stood before the majestic Gog and Magog sea stacks the golden setting sun warmed my face, the fresh salty air filled my lungs, and the gentle ocean waves stretched way up the beach and lapped over my ankles as my feet slowly sank into the wet sand. The view was spectacular. And with a satisfying sigh I thought ‘these are the moments that I live for.’

I finally photographed the 12 Apostles, and other majestic sea stacks that I had dreamed about for years. My friends and family were impressed, but for me, the real achievement was bringing my vision to life. That trip was a turning point, the moment I realised I had to pursue photography full-time.

Now, I travel at every opportunity, capturing those incredible places I had once only dreamed about.
