Rustic Treasures

All Rustic Treasures' jewellery is hand-crafted by Penny Layton. I like to use materials in non-traditional ways. My work includes pieces crafted from Sterling Silver, Gold, Copper, Brass, and Gold fill. My trademark pieces involve combinations of these metals along with river stone, freshwater pearls and found objects. My latest endeavour involves hand-casting silver in moulds carved from cuttlefish and then fashioning the castings into individual pieces. I have included locally sourced Abrolhos Island pearls in some of these. My work can be described as contemporary, modern and rustic all at the same time. Another fascinating collection I produce is my chainmaille range. Comprised primarily of solid Sterling silver and gold filled (both yellow and rose) jump rings, I have recently included colourful anodised jump rings to add a pop of colour. All pieces are handcrafted making them all individual and unique.
