As we head into Christmas and we start buying gifts, socialising more and planning for get togethers, it is the perfect time to look at how you shop and interact with the world - and make sure to support local where you can.

If you are reading this you are most likely already aware of why supporting local is a good thing, but perhaps it isn’t second nature to you. 


It is important to remember that we aren’t all perfect in every way when it comes to supporting local or living a zero waste lifestyle, or overcoming climate change. Sometimes it simply isn't possible. 

However we can all make small changes to make a bigger difference. Like Anne-Marie Bonneau has said; “we don’t need a handful of people doing zero waste perfectly. We need millions doing it imperfectly”.

There is something special about a handmade gift. The look of delight on the receivers' face when they see the truly unique gift you have found for them.

Tell people about your good experiences...


Small businesses particularly rely on good word of mouth and reviews online. If you've had a great experience make sure you tell someone and leave a review online. It helps bring more business to these locally owned small businesses. 

Share small business content on social media...


Post photos of that amazing cookie you just ate, the fabulous job your hairdresser did, all the goodies you purchased at a market, events you are at or plays you have seen. These small shares add up to a a big difference for small business.
