Olivia Monte

My products are small artworks which function as both gifts and small decorations. The theme of my handmade wares is rejuvenation. I'm passionate about environmentally sustainable art, and so all of my products are created from objects and materials which have been recycled or reused. My products include floral and plant burnings on magnetic wooden blocks, upcycled jar lid magnets within which are hand drawn and coloured plant images, small canvas artworks containing real foliage and petals, and hand painted journals and upcycled plant pots. I inherited the technique of wood burning and the poker tool itself from my late grandfather, who was a carpenter. This art form, being my wood blocks of varying sizes and shapes, is my main attraction and focus in a market stall setting. The burnt blocks typically depict proteas, banksias and cacti plants and flora.
